Keas

Keas runs from the ages of 5 to 8. Usually they’re ready to move on to Cubs around their 8th birthday.

If you have a child who is interested in becoming a Kea, then the first step is to bring them along to some friendly, fun meetings on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 7:00pm to try it out. Sometimes the Keas meet away from the hall, so it’s best to contact the leaders first to arrange your child’s first meeting.

After your child has been coming to the group for a while they will be helped to pass their first Kea award, known as “The Kea Badge”.  To pass this badge, they must attend four meetings and we will help them to:

  • Learn the Kea Promise
  • Learn the Kea Motto
  • Learn how to do the Scout Sign and Handshake
  • Learn the Kea Yell

Kea Promise

I will try to share my fun and help others.

Kea Motto

I care, I share, I discover, I grow.

Handshake and salute

All of the sections share these and we have a page with information on the Scout salute and the handshake.

Kea Yell

The Kea Yell is usually lead by one of the Keas at the end of each meeting.
